The Guadalupe fur seals are in the throes of a death epidemic. Scientists noticed this phenomena off the coast of California and Mexico. They seem to be stranded on the beaches and are dying off in record numbers like some species of whales that are washed ashore.

This comes as somewhat of a surprise for the experts who are left in a lurch and don’t know what to do about the SNAFU.

A response to this challenge is due though. About 80 fur seals have been found abandoned off the southern coast of California. This is a whopping figure. The last two decades have seen at maximum 10 to 12 fur seals stranded on the beaches in the region.
