BELLE CHASSE — On Monday state shrimpers plan to participate in a moratorium on harvesting to protest falling shrimp prices at the dock.

 

A standing-room-only crowd of about 250 angry shrimpers filled the Belle Chasse Auditorium Friday to protest the low prices.

 

“I been on strike since last Friday. I already came in,” said one shrimper to applause from the audience.

 

“But whoever can, stop, five days, let this board get with the processors,” another told the packed auditorium.
