ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Department of Fish and Game released preseason emergency orders managing early-run king salmon in many of the waters of Cook Inlet and the Kenai Peninsula for the 2015 season.

The regulations take effect in April, and include closures, bait and hook restrictions, and bag limits, among others.

A release from the department cites ongoing low king salmon stocks throughout Cook Inlet. The stocks have been experiencing a period of low productivity and below-average strength since 2009. The state expects the trend to continue through the 2015 season.
