David Turner of the Elliott Bay Design Group in Seattle, Wash., has been appointed as to the National Commercial Fishing Safety Advisory Committee to represent the viewpoint of naval architects and marine engineers. The committee assists the Department of Homeland Security and Coast Guard on matters related to commercial fishing vessel safety.

Turner is a project manager at EBDG with 20 years of experience in naval architecture and vessel design. He is responsible for the fishing vessel sector at EBDG and has managed and worked onboard vessels for projects ranging from concept design, vessel refurbishments, stability and weight calculations, to efficiency improvements.

"We are extremely proud of David for his work in the fishing industry and the distinguished recognition acceptance on this Committee brings. He has great perspective and will provide recommendations that are grounded in experience. EBDG is pleased to support the Department of Homeland Security. We all want safe commercial fishing operations" said John Waterhouse, principal of EBDG.
