Canada's Lobster Council is in talks with European Union officials over a proposed EU ban on North American lobster imports, which some see as an invasive species, Nova Scotia's The Telegram newspaper reported.
The council is afraid that a ban on North American lobster imports could hurt Canada's seafood exporters and is asking European lobster importers to raise awareness on the issue with their government representatives.
“We’re asking our exporters to ask their importers to lobby their own governments,” Geoff Irvine, the council's executive director said.
