The U.S. Coast Guard believes the flares the captain of a sailing vessel reported seeing on Saturday night off the coast of Charleston were from a SpaceX rocket launch and did not come from the Carol Ann, a missing Brunswick-based fishing boat.
The report of the potential sighting more than 200 miles offshore of Charleston, South Carolina, nevertheless has the mother and father of one of the men hoping their son and his crew mates make it home alive.
