The Coast Guard rescued a commercial fisherman after his vessel hit a submerged object near the Westport Marina and began taking on water.

A boat crew rescued 70-year-old Michael Carroll from his 60-foot fishing vessel the Pacific Rim at about 4:15 a.m. Sunday. He was treated for hypothermia at the Westport Marina and then taken to Grays Harbor Community Hospital.

The Coast Guard station in Warrenton, Oregon, received a mayday call at 3:51 a.m., reporting the vessel was taking on water. A crew reached the vessel within about 20 minutes.
