A Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary working group is putting the finishing touches on recommendations about fishing, diving, boating and other regulations that could impact the Keys economy and recreation.

The Ecosystem Protection Working Group will meet today and Wednesday to finalize its recommendations to the Sanctuary Advisory Council, which oversees management of the sanctuary.

The meetings will be from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Marathon Garden Club, 5270 Overseas Highway.

The sanctuary is currently in the process of updating all of its rules and regulations. The last time the sanctuary's management plan was updated was in 1997.

Today, the working group will formalize its recommendations on Upper and Middle Keys issues, and will receive public comment at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Then on Wednesday, the group will make its recommendations on issues involving the Lower Keys, Marquesas Keys and Dry Tortugas. Public comment will be taken at 10:15 a.m.
