Enforcement officers aboard the patrol boat Peter Gladding charged three Stock Island commercial fishermen with trying to discard part of their catch in a Friday stop near Rebecca Shoal.

All three -- Yirobys Ruiz, 34; Sergio Lopez, 42; and Eriberto Gil Rojas, 38 -- were booked on counts of interfering with a wildlife officer, resisting arrest without violence and possessing an undersized red grouper, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reported.

Crew aboard the Peter Gladding said the men aboard a lobster boat threw part of their catch overboard as the officers approached them around 2:30 a.m. FWC officers recovered the undersized red grouper.
