Trident Seafoods is expanding its line of pet food supplements to include nutritional items for seasonal allergy support and calming canines and blends of Omega-3 fish oils made from wild Alaska pollock and wild Alaska salmon.
The wellFurst seasonal Allergy Support Freeze Dried Health Supplement for Dogs and the wellFURst Calming support Freeze Dried Health Supplement for Dogs will be available in 2.11-ounce packages of 30 portions, and the wild Alaska fish oils in 18- and 32-ounce containers, Analise Gonzales, senior specialty sales representative for Trident Seafoods in Seattle, announced on Friday, Sept. 26.
All of the new products are shelf-stable and should be stored in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight, but it is not necessary to refrigerate them, she said.
Trident plans to launch the wellFURst supplements at PetSmart stores on Oct. 1 and is working on launch dates with Chewy and Amazon for later in the year.
"This product doesn't rely on a new waste stream," Gonzales said. "We're using raw materials that we may not have used in the past, but in a new way. Every time we develop a new product like this, it opens additional markets inspired by Trident's ongoing effort to get the most out of every fish," she said.
The new products are in addition to the seafood processing giant's Alaska Naturals brand, which features wild-caught Alaska salmon and pollock oils, a line of omega-3 fish oils that support skin, coat, and brain health. These products provide EPA and DHA fatty acids from sustainable, wild-caught Alaska seafood.
Trident Seafoods, the nation's largest vertically integrated seafood harvesting and processing company, is privately held and 100 percent USA-owned. Headquartered in Seattle, Trident employs some 9,000 people worldwide annually, with over 5,400 independent fishermen and crew members, who harvest virtually every commercial species of salmon, whitefish and crab in Alaska and the North Pacific oceans.
