Raymarine has expanded its Pathfinder radar series with the addition of two new commercial-grade systems: an IMO Type Approved CAT-1 radar and a Black Box radar designed for inland and non-IMO vessels.

Developed on Raymarine’s solid-state radar platform, the Pathfinder line is designed for use across international shipping, large workboats, and inland commercial vessels. The new CAT-1 models are available with 27” or 32” displays and meet IMO standards IEC 62288 and IEC 62388, making them suitable for SOLAS vessels over 10,000 gross tons, Raymarine said.

The Pathfinder Black Box radar offers a lightweight and cost-effective option for smaller commercial operators, including fishing vessels under 500 gross tons.

All Pathfinder systems use CHIRP pulse compression and beam sharpening technology to enhance target separation and long-range detection. The 6’ open-array antenna features a fan-less design and simplified cabling for reduced maintenance and easier installation, Raymarine said. The radar can also integrate with any HDMI monitor supporting 1920x1080 resolution and outputs Asterix CAT-240 data for compatibility with ECDIS, radar tracking, and naval systems.

Raymarine said the Pathfinder radars underwent more than three years of development and testing, including extensive environmental trials to ensure reliability in demanding maritime conditions.

“We’re proud to bring Pathfinder to a wide range of commercial operators,” said Gregoire Outters, vice president and general manager of Raymarine. “Whether offshore or inland, these systems simplify installation, reduce maintenance, and elevate maritime safety.”
