PORTLAND, Maine — Regulators are one step closer to establishing a limited shrimp fishery in the Gulf of Maine.

Members of the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission are taking comments from a series of public hearings and compiling them into recommendations.

The shrimp fishery closed in 2013 and has yet to reopen because of concerns about shrimp population levels.
