MONTAUK, N.Y. (WABC) -- The Coast Guard made a dramatic rescue of a lobsterman stranded at sea for 12 hours, just waiting for help to arrive.

He was finally found 43 miles south of Montauk.

"I said there's no way in hell that he could be staying afloat all of this time," said John Aldridge, Sr., the lobsterman's father

For nearly 12 hours, John Aldridge, Jr. fought to keep his head above water, not knowing if anyone would find him in the middle of the ocean, but his father says he never gave up hope.

"Here you are thinking, how long is he out there in the water? We don't know. When did he fall overboard? We don't know," Aldridge, Sr. said.
