PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Rhode Island lawmakers will learn the proper way to prepare Rhode Island-style calamari before reviewing legislation that would make it the state's official appetizer.

A House committee is set to host a cooking demonstration and hearing on the proposal Wednesday at the Statehouse.

The bill to recognize calamari as the state's official appetizer comes from Rep. Joseph McNamara, who notes that the state has the largest squid fishing fleet in the northeast.
