The 30th anniversary of the Homer Winter King Salmon Tournament is this Saturday, March 23 (weather permitting). This prestigious event has become the West Coast's premier fishing tournament. Over $200,000 in prize money is awarded yearly for the largest Kings caught, making it an unparalleled opportunity for fishermen.

Alongside the main event, side tournaments are offering additional chances to win cash prizes, and every hour brings exciting merchandise prize drawings. Since 2021, the champion fish has averaged an impressive $77,910 in total cash earnings. Join us for a day of thrilling competition and camaraderie.

The tournament committee has unveiled new protocols governing weather-related delays for the 2024 Tournament to enhance safety measures for participating anglers. Ensuring the safety of our anglers remains our paramount priority. The committee is committed to making well-informed determinations earlier in the tournament week, fostering a secure and enjoyable environment for all.

After the fishing lines are pulled from the water, join the festivities at the weigh-in stations by the Deep-Water Dock, located at 4667 Freight Dock Road. There will be live music, a beer & wine garden, food trucks, vendors, and some extra surprises as we celebrate our 30th anniversary.

All required anglers must have a 2024 Alaska Department of Fish and Game fishing license and a valid King Salmon Stamp. All anglers must comply with all Alaska Dept. of Fish and Game regulations. Accusations of ADF&G rule violations must be reported directly to the Alaska State Troopers at 235-8239. Safety equipment must comply with Coast Guard regulations.

All anglers must have completed a tournament entry form before fishing. There are two Divisions, Adult and Junior. The Junior Division is for those aged 12 and under. A paid licensed Charter Boat Captain and a deckhand do not need to be registered in the Tournament UNLESS they are planning on fishing in the Tournament. All individuals on a boat participating in the tournament must be registered.

All participating boats must have a VHF radio or cell phone aboard. Communicate with Tournament Headquarters on VHF #69 or cell phone at 399-7477. The north boundary at the Coast Guard marker light at Anchor Point extends offshore on a line at 59°46.113’ north. One rod per angler is allowed, and fishing lines must not be in earlier than the bell ringing at 9:00 am for all boats—lines must be out at 4:00 pm.

The registered angler must weigh in all fish. To be eligible for weigh-in, anglers must be in line at Tournament Headquarters by 6:00 pm. Anglers must call tournament headquarters in advance to arrange for fish to be weighed in before 2:00 pm. No live fish will be accepted as an entry. All prize-winning fish will be gutted and inspected. If any foreign objects are found inside the fish, they will be immediately disqualified, and the angler will be banned from any future Homer Winter Kings Salmon Tournaments or any other fishing tournament conducted by the Homer Chamber of Commerce. The angler will also be subject to any legal proceedings for breaking local or state fishing regulations.
