This year’s commercial scalloping season came to an end Friday amid signs the fishery – which has been decimated in the last 20 years – is recovering, at least on the environmental side.
But Samantha Denette, executive director of the Nantucket Shellfish Association, said recovery is a two-pronged effort that includes both the environment and the economy of the industry.
