7. 2017 Pacific Marine Expo Keynote Address

In his role as Assistant Administrator for NOAA Fisheries, Chris Oliver oversees science-based management and conservation of the nation's recreational and commercial fisheries. Join us to hear what he sees as the agency's national priorities moving forward and its importance to Alaska and West Coast fisheries.

Chris Oliver's keynote presentation will take place Thursday, Nov. 16, at 3:15 p.m. on the Main Stage in the Alaska Hall. 

 

6. Fisherman of the Year Contest: Co-hosted by Sean Dwyer from Deadliest Catch!

Put your skills to the test in the annual Fisherman of the Year Competition, where anyone can compete in three heats of rope splicing, net mending and blindfolded knot tying. Each heat winner will take away a cash prize and move on to compete in the final round — the survival suit challenge.

The final round champion will take home the coveted Fisherman of the Year title, $100 cash and a custom National Fisherman vest. There is no fee to enter, just step on up! Get there early because slots fill up fast. This year's contest will take place on Saturday, Nov. 18 at noon on the Main Stage in the Alaska Hall. 

 

5. Happy Hour in the Beer Garden

There is nothing like free drinks to help fuel the conversation with vendors and colleagues. Take a few minutes to unwind and have a drink on us in the Pacific Marine Expo Beer Garden. Each happy hour will feature a prize drawing for a pair of Seattle Seahawks tickets, plus a special guest appearance by a Seahawks cheerleader — come get an autograph! Happy hours will take place Thursday, 4 p.m. | Friday, 4 p.m. | Saturday, 12:30 p.m. in the Alaska Hall.

Curated by the editorial team of National Fisherman Magazine, these industry educational sessions are free to all Expo attendees and will cover topics like marine safety, business management, regulatory issues, technical advancements and much more. The program is designed to provide current and essential updates to the commercial fishing industry, while offering an environment for open discussion and networking opportunities with other industry professionals.
