A new report from the United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization says that despite the fact that women make up almost half of the global fishing and seafood industry, the vast majority of them occupy roles in processing, support, retail and cleaning.

To address the barriers to advancement for women, FAO will start a network to open channels for women to rise to higher management and research positions.
