A new wild Alaska pollock food service creation from Trident Seafoods has captured the "People's Choice" award at the Alaska Symphony of Seafoods in Seattle.

The Alaska Fisheries Development Foundation on Oct. 27 announced the entry most enjoyed by participants in the competitive gala was Trident's Crispy Battered Sauceable Wild Alaska Pollock Nuggets.

Thunder's Catch of Sandpoint, Idaho, took first prize in new retail competition with Wild Salmon Curry. Wild Alaskan Company in Homer, Alaska, placed second in retail competition with its Sockeye Salmon with Teriyaki Glaze, and Eva's Wild Salmon Jerky from Eva's Wild in Seattle placed third.

49th Star Wild Alaska Sockeye Salmon Italian Meatballs from E & E Seafoods of Renton, Washington, won the best new food service product award, and first prize for the most innovative product went to Trident Seafoods for wellFURst Calming Support Freeze-Dried Health Supplement for Dogs.

Kachemak Kelp of Homer, Alaska, took top honors for Kachemak Kelp Selkie Soak, a luxurious, kelp-infused bath product in a sachet of sustainably harvested sugar kelp, calendula, and mineral salts, for a relaxing soak that leaves skin hydrated and silky.

The name "Selkie" refers to mythological seal-like creatures, evoking the product's oceanic essence and its ability to provide a deep, skin-nourishing experience.

First-place winners in the Symphony competition receive booth space and airfare to the Seafood Expo North America (SENA) in Boston, entry into SENA's Seafood Excellence Awards, promotional marketing as an Alaska Symphony of Seafood winner, and judges' scores and comments to help sell their products.

The main event for the Alaska Symphony of Seafood this year took place on Oct. 23 in Seattle. The date for the Symphony's annual gala for the Alaska Legislature in January has not yet been confirmed.
