The Lobster Institute at the University of Maine will hold a Feb. 3-4 meeting in Portland, Maine, for U.S. and Canada fishermen, managers and researchers. It’s the return of the cross-border forum, last held in 2020, to address pressing issues affecting the lobster industry in the U.S. and Canada.

The “Town Meeting is a unique opportunity for cross-border dialog among fisherman, managers, and researchers,” according to the institution’s invitation that went out in recent says. Registration can be found online here.

The agenda includes:

- Impacts of regulations on harvesters

- Impacts on markets

- Solutions and technology

-Shifting distributions of marine species in a changing climate

The event will be held at the Mariners Church Event Center at 368 Fore St. in Portland, with nearby accommodations available at the Hilton Garden Inn.
