Maine Lobster Week is underway, bringing restaurants and seafood businesses across the state together to celebrate Maine’s signature fishery and the people and communities behind it.

Organized by the Maine Lobster Marketing Collaborative (MLMC), the annual event runs Sept. 19-26 and features lobster rolls, chef specials, three-course menus, and other offerings highlighting Maine lobster.

The celebration is intended not only to showcase the product but also to recognize the harvesters, dealers, processors, restaurants, and working waterfront communities that move Maine lobster from trap to table.

“Maine Lobster Week is a celebration of everything that makes Maine Lobster special, from the incredible product on the plate to the hardworking people and communities behind it,” Marianne LaCroix, executive director of the MLMC, said in a release.

“Whether you're enjoying a classic lobster roll or trying something completely new, every meal is an opportunity to experience Maine's lobster tradition and support the businesses and working waterfront communities that help sustain it,” LaCroix said.

Restaurants participating in Maine Lobster Week are offering dishes ranging from traditional lobster rolls to more creative preparations that showcase the catch's versatility.

The week also includes National Lobster Day on Sept. 25, giving the industry another opportunity to highlight the generations of fishermen and businesses that have built Maine’s lobster industry.

Businesses are marking the occasion with additional promotions and seafood offerings, while consumers are also encouraged to prepare Maine lobster at home or purchase directly from suppliers.

The MLMC was established in 2013 and is funded by Maine lobster harvesters, dealers, and processors. The organization works to increase demand for whole live lobster and value-added products while promoting the industry’s focus on sustainability, tradition, and quality.

Participating restaurants and offerings will continue to be added throughout Maine Lobster Week, which concludes Sept. 26.
