Most of the recent focus has been on creating a new marine zone in the southeast corner of Biscayne National Park, a uniquely oceanic park covering more than 270 square miles from North Key Largo to Key Biscayne.
The park's current preferred plan, called Alternative 6, would establish a 22.8-square-mile Special Recreation Zone where commercial fishing would be banned and recreational fishing access would be limited.
