In Canadian waters, over 90 per cent of seafood production by value is landed by vessels owned and operated by working harvesters and First Nations. Last year alone, these small- and medium-sized fishing enterprises landed over $4.2 billion in plant gate value and contributed over $6 billion in export earnings to the Canadian economy.
