Visitors are invited to head to Harkers Island for a food event featuring one of the area’s greatest coastal delicacies, shrimp.

 

Core Sound Waterfowl Museum and Heritage Center is set to host its second Core Sound Shrimp-Off at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, March 21. Activities include cooking demonstrations and tastings, competition between local cooks and restaurant chefs and tales of the sea.

Shrimp tasting will begin at 5:30 p.m. with cooking demonstrations starting around 6 p.m. and stories of the sea, “Shrimp Tales,” at 7 p.m.

 

The event is a celebration that aims to offer an appreciation for the local shrimp industry, the men and women who catch, process and prepare shrimp with special honors to those who have carried forth these traditions for generations.
