MENEMSHA — A 33-foot fishing boat sank about 150 miles off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard after it collided with another boat on Monday, according to a Coast Guard official.

The Robert C, a Fairhaven fishing vessel registered to Douglas Soares, sank and there are no plans to salvage the 1939 wooden ship, Petty Officer LaNola Stone said. The operator was rescued by the Shearwater, a nearby vessel, she said, before the Coast Guard’s response boat arrived.

The Robert C collided with the Pedlar, a 40-foot fishing boat, also from Fairhaven, at 12:08 p.m., Stone said.
