PORTLAND (WGME) -- Mother Nature is taking a toll on one of Maine's biggest industries. Commercial fishing has come to a grinding halt because of shipping delays and rough waters.

January and February are always a challenge, lobstermen in particular don't make much money over these months but they say this year is especially bad.

Last week they made it out to sea just one day in between storms and it could mean losing thousands of dollars.

Peter McAleney of New Meadows Lobster says the crustaceans are hiding further off-shore this time of year, and storm after storm, after storm has been standing in the way.
