The Virginia Marine Resources Commission has revoked 10 commercial fishing licenses so far this year, and most recently took away a pair of them from Delmarva residents.

Michael C. Clair of Saxis in Accomack County had his license taken for two years and will not be able to take or catch fish, shellfish or marine organisms from Sept. 22, 2015, to Sept. 21, 2017.

Clair, a commercial fisherman, was convicted in Accomack General District court on one count of aiding and abetting the taking of oysters with a nonresident. It is illegal under the code of Virginia for nonresidents to harvest oysters in Virginia. Due to the severity of this violation, the commission voted unanimously to revoke Clair’s licenses.

Gregory Parks of Tangier Island also had his license revoked, for six months.
