The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission was not able to come to a decision on next year's menhaden harvest quota when it met Wednesday in Alexandria, Virginia.

The commission's Atlantic Menhaden Management Board deliberated for over four hours but did not get a majority vote on any of the several options it had been presented with. As a result the board will vote again in the fall.

"There were a number of motions on the 2017 specifications that failed either because of a lack of majority or votes in opposition prevailed," said Tina Berger, the director of communications for the ASMFC. "Ultimately, the board postponed taking action on the 2017 specifications until the Commission’s annual meeting in late October."
