The San Diego Unified Port District asked developers Monday how they would turn Seaport Village into a “world-class development.”
The port gave developers until May 2 to respond to the request for proposals and set Aug. 9 as the date to decide whom to pick.
“The world class waterfront development is one of the most important sites along San Diego Bay, comes with high expectations both from the public and the district and presents respondents with a one-of-a-kind opportunity to develop a locally and internationally recognized waterfront destination,” the port said in the 27-page document.
The 70-acre site also incorporates the G Street Mole, home to the Fish Market Restaurant and American Tunaboat Association; the Chesapeake Fish Co. at 535 Harbor Lane; and Tuna Harbor, the commercial fishing docks.
