FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. — A local shrimping crew is safe in port after a U.S. Coast Guard rescue in stormy waters on Wednesday afternoon.
The Brunswick-based boat was in danger of sinking. Action News' Cole Heath is the only reporter to speak with the crew and get on the boat.
The boat is now safely docked in Fernandina Beach.
The captain said if it wasn't for the Coast Guard, his shrimping boat would have been at the bottom of the sea.
"It was freaky and I've lost a boat or two, so yeah it was freaky," said the captain, who didn't want us to show his face or use his name.
