To get your mitts on some lobster claws, you must first go to the Dorr web site http://dorrlobster.com/ to download the free app offered by MobiLaurus. Once you do, you can use it to order from a menu that includes items such as a lobster dinner for two or Maine scallops.
With a few finger taps on the customer’s screen, the order is placed, and customers get a confirmation number and a tracking number. Dorr says it can ship orders using Styrofoam coolers and frozen gel packs anywhere in the United States within 24 hours.
I imagine the lobster app is just the tip of the seafood iceberg, and that similar apps will be developed (if they haven’t been already) to allow U.S. fishermen to connect directly with customers and become more prosperous.
Hmmm. You have to like the idea of a more prosperous and thriving U.S. fishing industry. Is there an app for that?
