The SBCBA will host an open meeting for all fishermen to learn about the specific details of the SERA along with proposed Omnibus Habitat Amendment alternatives that will affect when, where and how people can fish.
According to Marshfield resident and SBCBA president Steve James, local fishermen will be adversely affected by the proposal and could be put out of business by the closing of fertile fishing grounds to the east.
“Fishermen need to be aware of what is happening but we also need the support of our political representatives both in Massachusetts and in Washington,” said James. “Their support will be vital in order for South Shore fishermen to survive.”
