As the Bristol Bay salmon fishery winds down, 80 top restaurants across the country are hosting a rolling wave of dinner events featuring Bristol Bay sockeye salmon, in a partnership with the Bristol Bay Regional Seafood Development Association.
The chefs are showcasing their creativity and commitment to Bristol Bay with events ranging from one-night special tasting menus and month-long specials to dinner and a movie screenings of the Bristol Bay documentary "Red Gold," the BBRSDA said, in an announcement July 15.
Along with promoting the versatile, heart-healthy sockeye salmon, the event is an educational effort to make seafood lovers across the United States aware of potential adverse affects of a proposed large scale mine at the headwaters of the Bristol Bay watershed.
Six restaurants, from Portland, Oregon to Boston, Massachusetts, are hosting month-long menu specials. Several restaurants from Seattle to Washington D.C. to Virginia, will be also showing the documentary "Red Gold."
