SEATTLE — The first Copper River salmon from Alaska arrive in Seattle Friday where the flavorful fish is celebrated with an airport cook-off.

An Alaska Air Cargo plane from Cordova is delivering about 18,000 pounds of salmon that were caught Thursday when the commercial gillnet season opened in Prince William Sound.

Three Seattle chefs compete for best salmon recipe in the third annual Copper Chef Cook-off. The judges are Seattle Seahawks placekicker Steven Hauschka, Seattle Mariners hall of fame player Jay Buhner and Alaska Airlines Chief Operating Officer Ben Minicucci.
