JUNEAU, Alaska — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is extending the public comment period on its study of large mining impacts in the Bristol Bay region.
The comment period was scheduled to end Friday. EPA announced Thursday that it will now be June 30.

Former Massachusetts state fishery scientist Steven Correia received the New England Fishery Management Council’s Janice Plante Award of Excellence for 2016 at its meeting last week.
