Oregon Iron Works and Vigor Industrial announced the companies are merging to unite their strengths in advanced manufacturing, shipbuilding and ship repair. Under the terms of the merger, Oregon Iron Works will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Vigor Industrial.

Lon White was appointed as Kodiak's new harbormaster on Wednesday, May 7.

He came to the port as a harbor officer in 1982 and worked his way up the ranks to deputy harbormaster. In 1995 White turned down his first opportunity to take on the role of harbormaster but declined, saying he was confident he could handle the operational aspects but he needed more seasoning in management, especially the politics of navigating city, state and federal bureaucracies so necessary to getting funding and approval for critical infrastructure projects the port was badly in need of.

The North Carolina Fisheries Association (NCFA), a nonprofit trade association representing commercial fishermen, seafood dealers and processors, recently announced a new leadership team. Incorporated in 1952, its administrative office is in Bayboro, N.C.

Alaska Governor Sean Parnell has announced the reappointment of Reed Morisky, Susan Jeffrey and John Jensen to the Board of Fisheries. Governor Parnell also announced the appointment of David Brown and the reappointment of Ted Spraker and Stanley "Stosh" Hoffman to the Board of Game.

Robert Heyano, president of the board of directors of the Bristol Bay Regional Seafood Development Association, announced on March 14 that the board has accepted the resignation of its executive director, Bob Waldrop, who has served in that capacity since inception of the association. The board wishes Bob well in his next endeavors. 
 

The Joint Ocean Commission Initiative has added five new members to its distinguished Leadership Council.

Gov. Terry McAuliffe announced the appointment of John M.R. Bull as commissioner of the Virginia Marine Resources Commission.  John Bull has been with the Virginia Marine Resources Commission since June 2007 and has been serving as acting commissioner since January 2014.
